Brindavan Gardens (Krishnaraja Sagara)

A shot from the northern elevated end of Brindavan Gardens, which is located 12 miles northwest of Mysore city. The gardens consist of a series of fountains among many trees, flowers, and shrubbery.

One of the fountains in Brindavan Gardens.

A fountain after 6:30 p.m., when lights in the fountains are turned on each evening until 8:00 p.m. Although it's impossible to tell from the picture, at the time it was taken, it was also pouring rain.

Mysore

Mysore is a huge tourist destination in Karnataka, the former capital of the state of Karnataka, under the Wodeyar rule, before the country gained independence in 1947. It contains temples, memorials, tombs, gardens and a huge palace.

Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary

The Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary is a 2 square kilometer wildlife sanctuary located roughly 20 miles away from Mysore, containing at least a dozen different bird species in their natural habitat. A boat ride brings visitors within viewing distance of thes birds, which live and feed on various tiny islands on the water.

Birds perched on a nearby rock, along with a shot of the oar of the boat.

An alligator cruising the water.

The rest of these pictures are of various birds that I knew the specific names of immediately after the boat ride, but can no longer recall. If you happen to know more details about any of the birds picture below, feel free to comment and I will add captions to these pictures. There are various website detailing species found in the sanctuary, along with some accompanying pictures...but matching them up is somewhat tedious.

[Edit: I've added identities alongside some of these as a result of Iris's suggestions.]

Bangalore: Lalbagh Garden

The Lalbagh garden was established by Hyder Ali, ruler of what was formerly the state of Mysore from 1761-1781, and later further developed by his son Tipu Sultan.

A temple, which stands atop a bit of a rock climb, is high enough to offer a good viewpoint.

Bangalore: General

View of the city from a fourth floor apartment: low enough for treetop views and breeze, high enough to avoid pollution and excess noise.

A bull pulling a load of hay on the road. The dark tint on the bottom half of the picture is the halfway rolled down window; because the car was moving, I couldn't get a full shot of the bull itself.
